The Third Decision for Success ~ I AM a Person of ACTION

Becoming a person of action –

Php 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, (14) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Can’t see going to school as an adult
 – as it’ll take me 5 years to get that done –
·         How old are you now… how old will you be in 5 years –
·         If you don’t do it – your gonna be 5 years older anyway…
·         but you’ll be 5 years older WITHOUT a degree… ?!! how is that better?

__________ (Moses)  was a man of Action –
·         Killed Egyption
·         Watered flock for girls run off by shepherds…

Exo 12:11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.

Keep Your Tennis Shoes On

  • God told Noah about the flood – But Noah still had to build the ARK
  • God gave Manna to the Children of Israel
but they still had to go gather it…
  • God Parted the Red-Sea but they had to walk through it…
  • God made the Sun stand still – but Joshua still had to fight –
  • God provided healing for Naaman but he had to go dip in the Jordon river
  • The Holy Ghost Overshadowed Mary – but she still had to give birth –
  • God provided us a Christ Child – but mary and Moses had to pick up and flee to Egypt to protect His life.
  • God has provided healing but we still have to believe –
  • God has given us forgiveness – but we still have to ask –

?? What is the PRIMARY resistance to ACTION
                                 ___________________ & __________________      (FEAR & LAZINESS)

Thomas Jefferson said; “I determined never to be idle.”

How to defeat __ __ ZI __ __ __ __ (laziness)

Turn the TV OFF -

Read and Quote
2nd Thessalonians 3:10 – “a man that won’t work shouldn’t eat”
Proverbs 24:33Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
How to defeat __ EA __ (fear)

Recognize what it has kept you from –
Pursuing a Job promotion – starting a business – involvement in a certain ministry – mending a broken relationship – seeking a higher education – preaching/witnessing …
What is it that has kept you from your dreams??? Fear of Failure? Humiliation? Don’t feel like you have enough knowledge?

Read and Quote
2Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

I’ve known of Big Men that aren’t afraid of anything that are terrified at the idea of standing in front of an audience and speaking –

Fear is the culprit that convinces a man whom could RISE to GREATNESS – to cower and squander himself into the settlement of mediocrity.

TO many people when faced with an action / lie down on the couch and watch TV…
And wallow in the blue hypnotic haze of someone else’s imaginary life – while they could be out living their own…

Decide today –
·         I AM a person of ACTION …
·         I am NOT LAZY –
·         I WILL SEIZE the MOMENT –
·         I WILL LIVE MY LIFE –

There’s no reason to dwell in the pit of despair or to moan over squandered time or lost opportunities –
You can’t do anything about the past.

Your future lies before YOU.
GRASP it with both hands & run with it!

When your faced with the choice to do nothing
or to do something, you will always choose to act.

Chamberlin’s charge
July 2, 1863 HOT humid day
34 school teacher from Main – a former professor of rhetoric from Bodwin College.
80,000 men to his right – lines of men strung out across fields and hills all the way to a lil’ town called Gettysburg Penn.

He’d been told – “whatever you do – don’t let the rebels through here” – they’d have the advantage of the high Ground - And the UNIONS army of the Potomac would be forced to surrender…
Chamberlin knew that if the REBELS got passed him – all would be lost…
He could not surrender – He could NOT retreat… He was armed primarily with a stubborn refusal to surrender
2:30 the 1st charge came – A 2nd & a 3rd charge came – 4th charge Chamberlin took a bullet to the belt buckle
With just 80 men left – on the 5th charge – He made a choice – Out of AMMO – He yelled “FIX BAYONETS

He encouraged His men – “We’ll have the advantage as we will be charging downhill”
When he took action more than 400 Confederate Rebels – surrendered to Chamberland and his band of just 80 men …
this was a deciding moment in our nations history –

I am a person of action
Taken from The Active Decision of the Travelers Gift written by Andy Andrews

James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Faith is NOT displayed in Idleness – therefore -Beginning today, I will create a new future by creating a new me.

No longer will I dwell in a pit of despair, moaning over squandered time and lost opportunity.
I can do nothing about the past. My future is immediate.
I will grasp it in both hands and carry it with running feet.
When I am faced with the choice of doing nothing or doing something, I will always choose to act!
I seize this moment. I choose now.

I am a person of action.
I am energetic. I move quickly.
I am striving to be like Christ – Jesus exampled a man of activity – therefore I look for ways to example him by being a person of action.

Knowing that laziness is a sin, I will create a habit of lively behavior.

I will walk with a spring in my step and a smile on my face.

The lifeblood rushing through my veins is urging me upward and forward into activity and accomplishment.
Wealth and prosperity hide from the sluggard, but rich rewards come to the person who moves quickly.

I am a person of action.
I inspire others with my activity,
I am a Christian, therefore,
I am a leader.

Leading is doing. To lead, I must move forward, many people move out of the way for a person on the run; others are caught up in their wake.
My activity will create a wave of success for the people who follow.
My activity will be consistent. This will instill confidence in my leadership. As a leader, I have the ability to encourage and inspire others to greatness.
It is true: an army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep!

I am a person of action.
I can make a decision - I can make it now.

A person who moves neither left nor right is destined for mediocrity.
When faced with a decision, many people say they are waiting for God.
But I understand, in most cases, God is waiting for me!
He has given me a healthy mind to gather and sort information and the courage to come to a conclusion.

I am not a quivering dog, indecisive and fearful.
My constitution is strong and my pathway clear.
Successful people make their decisions quickly and change their minds slowly.
Failures make their decisions slowly and change their minds quickly.
My decisions come quickly, and they lead to victory.

I am a person of action.
I am daring. I am courageous.

Fear no longer has a place in my life.
For too long, fear has outweighed my desire to make things better for my family.

Never again!
I have exposed fear as a vapor, an impostor who never had any power over me in the first place!
I do not fear opinion, gossip, or the idle chatter of monkeys, for all are the same to me.
I do not fear failure; for in my life, failure is a myth.

Failure only exists for the person who quits. I do not quit.
I am courageous.
I am a leader.
I seize this moment.
I choose now.
Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

I know that A PLAN of ACTION is nothing until I ACT ON that plan
I will act because
I am a person of ACTION
