Luke 22:38-39 KJV

And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough. (39) And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.

what is that? Jesus tells them, your 2 swords are enough... then what?? they go to the garden right? Before you get all spiritual on me here and say that Jesus was just speaking metaphorically  - don't forget vs.36... anyway... it really is an interesting scripture ... drop a note and tell me what you think?

This is so obvious. Ok, if you look at the human anatomy, there are two ears (generally) on each head, and a skillful apostle that was trying to defend his Lord could in fact cut off two ears at once. I could be wrong, but I tried.

2 other pastors - e-mailed me (I'm guessing they wanted some kinda anonymity - so I'll drop them in here with out their names...
1st, ... Swords? Hmmmm

Well, I have imagined that just seeing swords would be a deterrent for robbers and the such. Further, I don’t imagine Jesus would call down fire to deal with bad people. I don’t think this is a good explanation but I don’t have another.

Be well my friend,

Two points concerning Luke 22:38

1. Two swords would never be enough for a Physical revolt for 12 men to fight. So this could not be suggested by Jesus for fighting purposes. We all know he said put away your sword in the garden.

2. it was meant to fulfill prophecy in Is. 58:12. The Apostles appeared to be criminals along with Jesus as far as the Pharisees were concerned. Jesus had them bring swords to for this appearance and fulfillment of prophecy.
